How did you become a social worker?
I started doing voluntary work with an HIV charity and then worked in a Bail Hostel. My manager suggested I should apply to do social work training as I enjoyed the work. It was one of the best pieces of advice I have been given and I’ve loved every minute.
How long have you worked as a social worker / with Fostering Foundation?
I have worked with children and families for over 25 years (that makes me feel very old!). I have worked for a number of charity organisations with children who are being exploited and going missing as well as young carers. I had been delivering training to Fostering Foundation for about 3 years and saw the great work foster carers do. I joined in September 2019
What qualifications did you take to become a social worker?
I hold a diploma in social work, a B.Phil in social work and a post qualification in social work (Practice Teaching Award).
I enjoy yoga, reading and walking with friends/family. I’ll also admit to watching reality TV and am always happy to talk about shows such as Strictly Come Dancing.
