Most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is hearing about the amazing progress children have been making in their placements from their foster carers, schools and Local Authority Social Workers. It is great to see the relationships children have with their foster carers, who work so hard to help children to feel happy and safe in their care by giving them lots of enjoyable experiences and through consistent and therapeutic caregiving.
How long have you worked as a social worker / with Fostering Foundation?
I completed my Social Work degree in 2015 and worked as a children’s Social Worker for a Local Authority safeguarding team, before joining the Fostering Foundation in June 2017.
Do you have any pets?
I have a ginger cat called Louie!
What qualifications did you take to become a social worker?
I completed my undergraduate degree in Sociology and Social Policy before deciding I wanted to pursue a career in Social Work. After graduating, I spent the next year gaining some more experience in social care and worked with young people with learning disabilities. I then spent a further two years studying for my postgraduate qualification in Social Work.
