How did you become a social worker?
I started working with children and families in education as a learning support assistant and also worked in children’s social care as a family support worker and a childminder. After several years, I decided I would apply to be a social worker, as I enjoyed the work. I qualified in 2001.
How long have you worked as a social worker with Fostering Foundation?
I have worked with children and families for many years and as a social worker for nearly seventeen years. I decided to leave Local Authority Social work and I have been with the Fostering Foundation since November 2017.
What qualifications did you take to become a social worker?
I hold the diploma in social work, a BA in Professional Studies (Childcare) and a Graduate Certificate in Practice Education (Practice Educator).
What interests or hobbies do you have outside of work?
I do enjoy reading and walking and when I have spare time I enjoy volunteering for local community groups.
