An early morning start for the South West Team to set up the stand on what should have been a glorious August day – however…
The heavens opened and as we quickly recalled our girl guide skills we managed to get the gazebo up – only to be told we weren’t on the right pitch!! Bacon sandwiches and hot drinks cheered us and despite the inclement weather crowds started to flock to the show.
We had some interesting conversations with many people who were both wanting to know more about fostering but also wanting to try and understand why so many of our children and young people needed to be in foster care. The free lollipops were a real crowd pleaser. It was also great to see several of our young people involved in the show – especially one who was busy on the Army cadet stand who looked so smart – we were all very proud!
We are hoping that we will hear from those people who collected information packs from us as we still have such a need for more foster carers here in the South West.
Our next adventure is Tavistock Pannier Market on 19 November and 10 December – if you missed us at the show come and along and see us in the Market!
